Sharp, high-contrast, superb image quality

This lens boasts image quality equivalent to the Zuiko Digital ED 150mm F2.0, which is known for its superb image quality. The lens adopts 3 ED lenses to correct on-axis chromatic aberrations (often occur with telephoto lenses) and 2 HR lenses to correct spherical aberrations (occur with wide-aperture lenses). With a total length of just 69mm, the rational design allowed this lens to incorporate 10 lens elements in 9 groups to provide sharp, high-contrast images from the centre to edges.

Achieving clear circular defocusing with little vignetting

Defocusing in the background by the ED 75mm F1.8

To obtain true circular defocusing even at the widest aperture (F1.8), this lens directs light rays to the peripheral areas to provide soft, beautiful circular defocusing effects. The lens optics are designed to eliminate double-line defocusing, which results in the blurred area being contoured with dual lines. This also results in edges of your image being coloured due to chromatic aberraちtions. As a result, it can provide clear, impressive images emphasising the subject with beautifully defocused backgrounds.

Difference in the shape of defocusing effects by vignetting

  • Clear circular defocusing with little vignetting
  • Cat's eye defocusing effects with notable vignetting

ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) Coating thoroughly eliminates ghosts and flares

ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) Coating is applied to the lens surface to thoroughly eliminates ghosts and flares that used to be difficult to reduce because of their high transparency. ZERO Coating boasts clear image quality even under challenging conditions such as a backlit condition.

This high-performance lens is only 69mm long and features high-quality design with a textured metallic outer finish.

The sophisticated form of the hard metal exterior makes this lens comfortable to hold. With a high-precision polished, large-diameter glass lens placed in the very front of the lens, the style of this lens will stir your desire to begin shooting. It has a comfortable weight balance when attached to the camera and the comfortable feel of the metal exterior when held in the hand makes shooting easy. Appealing optional lens hoods and metallic lens caps that match the premium design of this lens are also available.

  • The LH-61F Metal Lens Hood and the LC-61 Metal Lens Cap cannot be used together.

Easy manual focusing

The comfortable texture and easy control of the metal focusing ring support accurate focusing as well as sharp and crisp lens performance. When combined with an OM-D series camera, even more accurate framing and focusing is possible. This is thanks to the stable viewfinder image* provided by the image stabiliser functionality.

Fast, quiet autofocusing thanks to the MSC mechanism

The MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) mechanism is the latest in optical design technology for achieving fast and silent focusing with a lightweight form and minimum number of lenses. The gears have been removed, eliminating operational noise. A sub-micron precision metallic shaft and feed screw (screw drive) mechanism is used for efficient, direct driving of this lightweight focusing lens. This lens employs the inner-focusing system with the MSC mechanism that performs focusing by moving a small, lightweight focus lens to enable fast, quiet, smooth autofocusing which is ideal for movie and still image shooting.
